SAMARITAN PLATFORM PROJECT (SPP)
An initiative of JAKIN which is established to identify challenges needy people are facing, discover the source and improvise lasting ways of improving their physical, social and financial conditions. Since its inception in February 2004 till date SPP has supported over 10,000 less privileged people in Nigeria and as far as Sudan- Darfur, Liberia and Ghana. The project focuses on the provision of psychosocial, home visit, general health, welfare, educational and economic empowerment support.
On a daily basis through SPP, health related issues such as minor surgeries, hospital bills, blood transfusion bills and prescribed drugs are addressed. Nutritional, transportation, clothing, accommodation and personal hygiene support is also made available to beneficiaries. Educational challenges are also met through provision of public school enrolment and completion support to vulnerable children. This supports includes provision of basic school items, career talks, transport fare & lunch break support, advocacy to schools to seek admission, school visits, caregiver counseling, student counseling, payment of afterschool and summer lesson fees. We also provide awareness, care and support on various social ills especially drug abuse, communicable diseases, sexual abuse and gender based violence to schools.
Entrepreneurship support is also provided for individuals and families through vocational skill trainings, business management training, mentorship, provision of business or skill equipments and setting up of numerous retails businesses.
Community and individual disaster victims are not left out as relief materials and counseling supports are provided for them. Prisoners, physically challenged people and street people are also reached with various forms of supports to mitigate their problems.
The target beneficiaries of the project are vulnerable children, women, youths, men and families and it funded mainly by kindhearted individuals, organizations, groups and churches.
