COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN FOR CANCER CONTROL PROJECT(LAPOC4)
The LAPO C4 campaign Project is aimed at reducing cancer related deaths by focusing attention on activities to promote regular uptake of screening services for early detection. The project objectives will be achieved through massive education of the populace on the pre-disposing factors, signs and symptoms to look out for, social mobilization and provision of screening services. JAKIN N.G.O is implementing the project in slums within Mainland and Ajeromi LGAs. The goal of the project is to reduce rate of cancer related deaths among most vulnerable population in Nigeria. The focus of the project is on breast, cervical, prostate cancer along with childhood tumours. JAKIN N.G.O commenced implementation of the 1 year project in December 2016.
So far,138 clients have been screened for both cervical and breast cancer, 39 for breast cancer only and 10 for cervical cancer only. 37 clients tested positive for cervical cancer while 1 tested positive for breast cancer.
